General Update
Hello, everyone!
I have been gone for quite some time! I encountered some issues with my eyes in mid to late 2023, and being in front of a screen was too challenging. Reading, likewise, was a huge challenge, and I ended up reading 20 books. This is a good number! However, I am used to reading about 50-70 books a year on average.
Fortunately, my eyes are doing quite well now. They are not feeling perfect, but they are in a much better position than they were initially!
I have a few goals going into 2024. With my improved eye health, I would like to read 52 books this year. I would also like to read the Canada Reads Longlist. Note: Canada Reads is held every year by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. I try to read as many books as I can! If I am unable to make it through the longlist, I will definitely do my best to make it through the shortlist which comes out later this month. Finally, I want to read more adult fiction this year. My preferences are changing a bit, and I hope to see that reflected this year.
And, of course I would like to be consistent with blogging!
Olivia Update 🐾
Olivia is doing well! She is a super senior cat, being 16.5 years old! And of course she needs more care. I feel so lucky to have her and to read and snuggle with her.
Currently Reading

I want to express my gratitude to the publishers Penguin Young Readers and ECW press for advanced reading copies of Holly Horror and Farhang.
Reuniting With Strangers is on the Canada Reads 2024 Longlist.

QOTD: What are some of your reading goals in 2024?

I’m so glad to see your eyes are doing much better. Cheers to 2024!
Thank you very much, Tessa! Cheers!
I’m intrigued by Holly Horror. Sounds like my kind of creepy book. I’m so glad that your eye health has improved and you can read more. Wishing you all the best in the new year!

Thank you so much, Diana! Wishing you a wonderful 2024!
I’m so glad you’re blogging again. I was away for most of the year as well so I totally get it. I’m sorry to hear about your eyes and I’m glad they’re on the mend. I hope 2024 treats you well!

All the best in 2024!
I’m sorry that you have been having trouble with your eyes…but I’m glad to hear they are much better. I hope you are able to accomplish your goals for 2024.
I have found that my reading tastes have changed a lot since I began blogging. I run across so many good books that I would have never read on my own.
Agreed, blogging is a great way to find books we wouldn’t have found otherwise!
I’m so sorry to hear you’ve had issues with your eyes but I’m glad they’re better. I try to read more physical books and audiobooks so I’m not always looking at the screen, but the audiobook can sometimes backfire because I would often crochet while listening and be straining my eyes too! I’m glad Olivia is well! She deserves all the snuggles!

Yes, it’s so beneficial to find different ways to read that don’t hurt the eyes! Unfortunately, my eyes could barely even read a physical book. It’s not perfect, but getting better!
Oh, crocheting is such a fun hobby, easy to get super focused on it.
Thank you, I will relay the message to Olivia!
It’s so nice to see you back, Sara! That is a really tricky situation with your eye concerns, and I can see how that would get in the way of both blogging and reading, which is no fun. I’m glad to hear they’ve improved a fair amount, and I love hearing updates on Olivia as well! Thanks so much for the wonderful post, and take care!
